The North Beach Restaurant is an old San Francisco tourist trap, as far as I can determine. While the food was acceptable (except for a dreadful, awful insalata caprese (how can you screw that up? they did.)), the service was bizarre, and the prices enormously high for the food served. If it hadn't been for the tasty grappa we finished with, I would have left the meal with a very sour taste in my mouth. As it was, we won't be going back. There are much better places in North Beach.

Excellent food, service and ambiance. HINT: Don't be afraid to build your own dinner. Ask your waiter what's good that night (eg. Veal) and go from there with the waiters help. You will not be dissapointed. A true expierence, and, you will get extra good service by showing you are flexible. Be sure to check out the many Grapas in the Bar after dinner.
